Broadcast Ratings: Patience gets under way with 1.4m
WEDNESDAY: Channel 4 drama opens ahead of The Couple Next Door and The Gathering
Patience (Channel 4) 9pm-10pm; 1.4m (8.5%)
Channel 4’s acquisition of Eagle Eye Drama and Beta Films’ six-part series about an autistic police archivist who teams up with a detective to solve crime delivered one of the strongest launch audiences for the network in the past couple of years.
It performed ahead of fellow import After the Party which took in 633,000 (4.3%) on a Wednesday in November, as well as C4 original dramas The Gathering, which drew 1m (7.9%) on a Tuesday in May, and fellow Eagle Eye drama The Couple Next Door which opened with 1.1m (7%) on a Monday in November 2023.
Patience was behind the first series of Eagle Eye stablemates Before We Die (1.8m/10.2%) and Suspect (1.6m/10.3%) which broadcast in similar slots on a Wednesday in May 2021 and a Sunday in June 2022 respectively.
However, it was comfortably ahead of both those shows’ second series launches which respectively drew 580,000 (3.5%) on a Sunday in June 2023 and 850,000 (7.1%) on a Wednesday in July. Patience, which is boxsetted on C4’s streaming service, also smashed the 800,000 (5.9%) slot average...
