Beta’s "Operation Sabre" turns into Festival favorite

Munich, 30 September 2024. Beta Film’s Serbian thriller Operation Sabre (8x1h) has celebrated a big win over the weekend, taking home the Primetime Killer Award for Best CEE TV Drama at the Serial Killer Festival in Brno. The eight-hour series celebrated its World Premiere during this year’s Canneseries in April, winning the Special Interpretation Award for its superb cast.

Goran Stanković (Morning Changes Everything, Bad Blood) and Vladimir Tagić (Children of Evil, Morning Changes Everything) created and directed the series based on the true events of the assassination of the Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Đinđić in 2003.

I Know Your Soul (6x1h, Deblokada for BH Telecom), also competing for awards in Brno, took home an honorable Mention for the script, giving equal weight to the story and characters. Jasmila Žbanić, writer, director and producer of the six-part drama, was awarded with the progressive Killer Award for outstanding TV personality of the CEE region.

Beta also had Latvian dramedy Soviet Jeans (8x1h, Tasse Film) competing in the Primetime Killer section of the festival.

Operation Sabre is produced by This and That Productions (Snezana van Houwelingen) in co-production with Agitprop (Martichka Bozhilova) for Radio Television of Serbia. Beta Film handles international sales of all productions.
