Slovak adaptation of Lone Scherfig’s acclaimed 'The Shift' has wrapped shooting

Pórodnica (WT), the Slovak remake of Lone Scherfig’s acclaimed series The Shift (8x1h), has wrapped shooting and is set to air in January 2025 on Slovak pubcaster STVR.

The hospital drama unfolds within a maternity ward, portraying the pivotal moments in the lives of its characters—moments many of us experience at some point in our lives. Leading the cast are Slovak stars Jana Kolesárová (Flightplan) and Ondrej Daniš (Rex). The series is directed by Ján Sebechlebský.

The Slovak adaptation is based on the Danish drama The Shift, which premiered to great acclaim at Berlinale. A second season is currently in postproduction. Oscar-nominated Danish director Lone Scherfig is the series’ creator. The Shift is produced by Malene Blenkov for Creative Alliance, the production company co-founded by Ole Christian Madsen, Lone Scherfig, and Malene Blenkov.
