Sisi III celebrates strong Italian broadcast

Munich/Rome, 13 June 2024. It is Sisi’s summer: Season 3 of the royal drama premiered with stellar ratings on Italy’s Canale5. Against strong competition, the first three episodes gathered almost 1.5 million linear viewers and a 10% market share for the evening, ranking second behind the European Athletics Championship currently held in Rome. The second half of the season, episodes four until six, improved on the numbers of the premiere reaching very impressive figures with 1.6 million linear viewers and an 11% market share.

Season 4 is currently shooting in Latvia, with Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann returning as Sisi and Franz. The Empress returns to her homeland of Bavaria, where she comes across dark family secrets and ultimately must ask herself where she really feels at home.

Since its first season, Sisi was the most watched series of every year on streaming service RTL+ in Germany and secured exceptional linear ratings in Germany, France, Austria, and the Netherlands, among others. Over the last decades, the Austrian royal of the 19th century has become an international cult figure, first brought to screen in the 1950’s Sissi trilogy by Ernst Marischka, starring the legendary Romy Schneider.
