"NSU German History X" catches Golden Nymph on its way to Asia
Munich, 21 June 2017. Beta Film has secured Asian territories for NSU German History X, which has been honored with a Golden Nymph last night at the prestigious TV Festival in Monte Carlo. The six-hour show will be available in several territories, including India and China on pay-channel Cinema World Asia as well as in China on the IPTV-platforms Sichuan and Shaanxi.
Anna Maria Mühe (“My Blind Date with Life”) won the award for her outstanding performance in the first part of the miniseries as Beate Zschäpe. Inspired by true and current events, the series focusses on the awakening of the right-wing terrorist group, which became the National Socialist Underground (NSU), killing immigrants in cold blood. Beate Zschäpe, suspected to be an active member of the NSU, is still on trial today.
The show, which already won the “Bloggers Award” at Séries Mania in France and the German TV Award as Best Series last year, was selected by a renowned jury with Juan José Campanella ("30 Rock"); writer, producer and co-founder of Spain's Bambu Producciones, Ramón Campos ("The Embassy"); award-winning actress Odile Vuillemin ("Profilage"); Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actor John Corbett ("Sex and the City"); Emmy-nominated executive producer and writer Peter M. Lenkov ("Hawaii Five-0") and Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo ("The Expanse").
The miniseries has been sold by Beta Film to the main Scandinavian broadcasters DR, NRK, SVT and YLE and to Netflix USA and UK. NSU German History X (6 hours) was produced by Gabriela Sperl ("Line of Separation") and Academy Award-winning Wiedemann&Berg ("The Lives of Others") for SWR, WDR, BR, ARD Degeto, MDR in association with Beta and Telepool.
