7 million viewers: MURDER BY THE LAKE surpasses all prime-time entries
Munich, 04 October 2017. The thrilling movie cycle Murder by the Lake (8x2 hours) is breaking new records. The most recent installment “The Girl Who Loved to Laugh” attained the highest ratings of all previous entries of the cycle in the younger target group by reaching 14% and 1,3 million viewers on ZDF, doubling the channels average market share. Altogether, as prime-time winner it scored 7 million viewers and an extraordinary market share of about 23%, leaving strong formats such as RTL’s “Millionaire” and Pro7’s “Big Bang Theory” behind. The cycle, produced by Beta subsidiary Rowboat Film and Graf Film for ZDF and ORF, contains eight movies, two more are already in pre-production.
The latest case, the binational investigation team discovers a well-preserved corpse of a young girl. During the autopsy, coroner Thomas Egger is mysteriously attacked. The murderer has to be a local with something to lose.
