“Velvet” triumphs on Italian prime time
Munich. It’s probably the most famous fictional Haute Couture-paradise of the world: Galarias Velvet, center of the long running TV series by Spanish powerhouse Bambú Producciones. In its fourth-season run on Italy’s RAI 1, Velvet attracted nearly three million viewers on Wednesday night with a prime time winning market share of about 15,7%, topping the RAI-premiere of the new ITV series “The Halcyon” the same week.
The series, created for Atresmedia Televisión, is set in 1960’s Madrid and has attained ongoing high ratings on the Italian broadcaster ever since with its captivating mixture of drama, glamour, emotions and romance. Beta has sold the high-end drama series to more than 140 territories as format and ready-mades. The program can be streamed in selected Netflix territories.
In the meantime, the story continues after season four with series sequel Velvet Collection. The spin-off, produced by Bambú Producciones, found a new broadcasting home with Spanish TV platform Moviestar. Beta Film will present the series at MIPCOM 2017.
